Analog gurl in a digital wurld
An Editorial World Takes Shape
Analog gurl in a digital wurld began as a shared fashion image-making project for Bad To The Bone Magazine. The published page brings together photography and styling by Rachel Colless, hair and make-up by Marvin Glissmann, video by Anastasja Black, model and talent Carmen Electro, and visuals by Magnificent Matter.
Its starting point was not a single authorial gesture but a constellation of practices: clothing, body, light, motion and image arranged into one editorial language. The title holds a productive tension between the tactile and the mediated, and the project develops inside that space—using fashion as its surface and visual experimentation as its connective tissue.
Many Hands, One Image Field
What reached publication was shaped by exchange rather than a single author. The page moves between still images, video, wardrobe credits and a sequence of distinct looks; each layer carries part of the work’s identity.
Magnificent Matter’s role was visual: a contribution that could move between image and screen while remaining part of a larger team language. The finished editorial was shared together with images, video and outtakes, allowing the collaboration to continue beyond its first publication.
The result is a hybrid editorial object—a fashion story, a moving-image reference and a record of a temporary collaboration.
A Published Reference, Carefully Kept
The project’s afterlife became part of the collaboration. Magnificent Matter asked before using the outtakes on its own website or social channels; permission was granted with the condition that outtakes be clearly labelled.
That exchange keeps visibility and authorship together. The editorial can travel as a reference for future fashion and media work without turning a limited permission into unrestricted asset rights.
What remains is a concise example of how Magnificent Matter enters a broader image-making ecology: through a defined visual contribution, shared credit and a finished work that holds analog tactility against digital circulation.
